FAQs
Who can volunteer?
You can!
Staying Put Services is committed to equal opportunities and
strives to recruit a volunteer workforce that reflects the
diversity of our community.
Some roles, like the warehouse assistant role at Furnish require a
level of physical fitness that might be limiting for some people,
but most roles can be done by anyone with the desire to help and
the commitment to the work. We will work with volunteers to find
roles that meet their needs.
We are especially keen to recruit older volunteers for whom
volunteering can provide significant health and wellbeing
benefits.
What's in it for me?
Volunteers provide a very useful service for Staying Put
but we don't think it should be a one-way street. Staying Put will
support volunteers to take up opportunities and succeed in them. We
offer our volunteers:
- Lunch and travel expenses
- Support during the placement to achieve tasks and build
skills
- Relevant training, where necessary
- A reference to future employers about the commitment you
made to the organisation and the work you did here
- Social events to celebrate the work of volunteers across
the organisation
How can I get involved?
If you're interested in volunteering, take a look at the
role descriptions on the services page. You can download an
application form, which is your chance to tell us about yourself
and how you can help. Once you've applied, we'll meet to talk about
what you hope to get out of volunteering with us and tell you more
about the role.
If you are interested in working directly with our clients, we'll
ask you to do a criminal records check. This helps us to protect
our service users, who are often vulnerable. Having a criminal
record won't necessarily mean you can't volunteer, and if you have
any questions about the discloser, you can talk to us about it so
we can find a solution that works for all of us.
If you have any questions about the volunteer opportunities or how
to apply, just give us a ring for more
information.
