It is estimated that there are some 20,000 people squatting in London alone.

If you are considering squatting, then you can get specialist advice from the Advisory Service for Squatters.

The service is open Monday to Friday 2pm to 6pm.

If you are intending to visit the offices it is best to ring first to make sure someone is there.

The Advisory Service for Squatters also produce a booklet called, "The Squatters Handbook" which costs £1.00. If you wish to be sent a copy then you should send a cheque for £1.57 to also cover the cost of postage.

One word of caution is that if you cause damage on gaining entrance to a property, then you may be guilty of a criminal offence.
