Council & HA Tenants
If you are evicted
There are only very exceptional and limited circumstances for a
tenant to be reinstated after eviction. You would need to consult a
solicitor.
An application for a rehearing or to set aside the original
order must be made within 14 days of the Trial.
If you are evicted, then your landlord is extremely unlikely to
rehouse you.
If you are a housing association tenant then in the vast majority
of cases, the council is very unlikely to rehouse you.
If you are made homeless then you should apply to the council, who
will investigate your circumstances. If you have lost your tenancy
through rent arrears it is likely that you will be considered to be
"intentionally homeless"
[see Council help
for the Homeless in Homelessness and looking for Accommodation.
There are rare exceptions to this rule.
If you have children then you may be able to get some assistance
from the Social Services department [see
Useful Contacts].
Further advice on finding private rented or hostel accommodation
can be found in the section, Homelessness and looking for
Accommodation.
